I think you will be very impressed with our city and the services that we provide. We are a small city of approximately 1100 people. We are located within an hour’s drive of Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Mt Pleasant.
We have a very clean city thanks to our Pubic Works employees who are always working with our residents to ensure that brush, leaves, etc. are picked up on a regular basis. We have a new 500,000-gallon water tower and have replaced some of our infrastructure with new water and sewer lines. We are a zoned community with a Planning Commission that works with homeowners on improvement requests.
We have our own Police Department. We have a volunteer Fire Department that serves our city and surrounding townships. Our volunteer firefighters have a presence in our schools as they visit and help educate students on fire safety.
Together, with nationally ranked University of Michigan Health, UM Health-Sparrow Carson provides greater access to world class care, right here in Mid-Michigan. Our hospital’s Emergency Department is level IV Trauma designated, and the hospital offers a full range of outpatient diagnostic services, including laboratory and imaging, and a highly skilled surgical department providing a full spectrum of surgeries. For additional information visit UofMHealthSparrow.org/Carson.
Our parks system is one of the best in the area with more than 80 acres of land in the system.
You will surely enjoy any one of our parks. They are a great place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors.
Our community has several churches of various denominations to serve the spiritual needs of our citizens.
We have a very good school system. The students give their best and are inspired by well-trained teachers. Our schools offer a safe and secure learning environment and more than 85% of our graduates go on to pursue further education and training. The school offers many extracurricular activities, including many athletic teams and clubs, for students to stay involved in their after-school time. Our elementary school received a grade of “A” and the middle and high school received a grade of “B” from the State of Michigan assessment.
